This has bitten me in the past.

I have published a first release of the CakePHP based frontend for TYPO3 as GPL’ed free software. Clone the repository and help in development or download a ZIP archive with the necessary CakePHP files. Installation instructions are at schettler.net/fossil/t3c

Webentwicklung mit CakePHP ist laut einem Leserkommentar “die beste Veröffentlichung, die es zur Zeit zum Thema CakePHP zu erwerben gibt”. Jedenfalls verspricht es mehr Tiefgang als Beginning CakePHP: From Novice to Professional (Expert's Voice in Web Development) , was Andreas mal gekauft hat. Leider beschreibt es nur CakePHP 1.2.

Our editors want a Typo3 backend. We (the developers) want to get this magazine out of the door before Armageddon. The solution? A Typo3 installation inside of a CakePHP frontend.

After all, Typo3 is just a clever database frontend which manipulates two tables, pages and tt_content. This way, the developers can productively create custom navigation bars, arrange content the way they want it, and do so in the clean and well organized world of CakePHP Model-View-Controller. Our editors, on the other hand, can work their way through the page tree and place content on columns. Everyone is happy.

Once we have a baseline implementation, I hope to release a tutorial and some code here.

... und obwohl wir keinen Biervulkan, sondern nur Club-Mate im Angebot hatten, rannten uns die Kölner Cake-Entwickler die Bude ein – naja, fast. Jedenfalls war es ein schöner Anfang. Im April gibt es ein nächstes Mal – versprochen!

Eigentlich eine rhetorische Frage, ich weiß. Aber auf unser Sozialisierungsangebot hat sich bislang niemand gemeldet. Komisch.

Nun könnte Jan Kneschkes MySQL-Proxy in seiner aktuellen Version ein wunderbares Mittel sein, um CakePHP ohne schlimme Hacks zur Nutzung einer Master/Slave-Konfiguration von MySQL zu bewegen.

Leider bekomme ich ihn nicht ans Laufen und bin für jede Hilfe dankbar.

Ich muss mir einfach mal den Ärger vom Leib schreiben, Klar kann man mit CakePHP Software entwickeln. Aber ein großer Spaß ist es nicht:

• Singular/Plural-Chaos. Muß das wirklich sein, sich diesen Quatch von Ruby-on-Rails abzuschauen und dafür CPU-Zyklen zu opfern? Wenn es wenigstens der Klarheit dienen würde; mich macht es wahnsinnig.
• CamelCase ist kein Zeichen von Erwachsensein oder Objektorientierung. Nur schwerer lesbar. Zumal, wenn die Tabelle dann doch camel_cases heißt. OK, alle machen es; damit könnte ich leben.

• Aliasse in Suchergebnissen. Wo sind den nun die Daten?

Ich habe mir in letzter Zeit viel Gedanken über die verfügbaren Optionen zum Bau von Websites gemacht. Es gibt

• Content-Management-Systeme: Typo3, Joomla, SixCMS, Coremedia, ...
• Content-Management-Frameworks: Drupal, Django Project, …
• Model-View-Controller-Frameworks: CakePHP, Symfony, Zend Framework, RoR, …
• andere Frameworks: Pear, Zope, ...

• Ad-Hoc-Programmierung; PHP, JSP, ASP, ...
